OVERVIEW

The RI Public Utilities Commission is the first Rhode Island state agency to install a solar carport, aiding in their Lead by Example Initiative and acting as a pilot project for other state property.

The canopy is a great way to utilize the parking lot, while lower the operating costs for the building. It will provide coverage in inclement weather and has charging stations underneath. The array was turned online in November 2018 and is expected to produce 69,118 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, providing 54% of the building’s annual electrical consumption. The system will offset 51.4 tons of carbon dioxide annually, and generate enough clean energy to power 5.6 homes each year.

Homeowners are making the switch to zero energy for more comfortable and sustainable lives. Using a technology based approach, our zero energy homes are designed & built with your future in mind. They are healthier, more comfortable, and perform better than traditional homes.
