February 03, 2017

The West Greenwich Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary clinic which serves quality animal health care needs of dogs, cats and pocket pets from wellness exams to advanced surgical procedures. The Animal Hospital partnered with Newport Renewables to design and build a 10.9 kW rooftop solar array for its facility. The 39-panel array was completed and turned online in June 2015. The solar array is expected to generate 14,600 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, providing 36% of the Hospital's annual electricity consumption.  The system will offset the equivalent of 11.3 tons of carbon dioxide annually, and generate enough clean energy to power 1.1 homes each year.

System Owner:  West Greenwich Animal Hospital
Location:  West Greenwich, RI
Project Type:  Solar Photovoltaic (PV)
System Size:  10.9 kW DC
System Type:  Rooftop - shingle

The Animal Hospital utilized its large south facing roof for the location of its 39 panel solar array.

Newport Renewable worked closely with the Animal Hospital to ensure that its daily operations were not affected.

Black racking and modules were used to blend the array into the dark colored roof.
